I'm starting to feel redundant here. Anything anyone's ever told you about protein and calcium is a lie. You can and WILL get enough calcium and protein as a vegan. And, no, as a woman, your bones will not suffer. More here.
A lot of these studies [[but not including this one]] site back to The China Study for their pro-vegan information. It's on my "to-read" list. Anyone read it already?

The evidence is mixed. Other reliable studies have found a significant difference in bone fracture outcomes among vegans.
I think it's important to look at more than one study when drawing nutritional conclusions - the field of nutrition is full of contradictory research.
